Reuse

Just last weekend I spent Sunday afternoon cruising my neighborhood’s garage sale. What a great place to look, as they say one person’s trash is another s treasure. I found lots of old and tiered furniture that with a little bit of elbow grease can be REUSED or RECYCLED into a beautiful new piece of furniture. Keep an open eye and don’t judge a table by it’s cover. Take a closer look at how it’s built, how do you like the shape? look inside the drawers and see how well the piece is made. Then get creative, you don’t have to use paint or stain try decoupage with left over wall paper or an old map. You can also line the drawers with fabric and in no time you will have a new table.

Recycle

How about recycling an old chair. It can easly be done with a new finish and new upholstery. Don’t get intimidated by doing this yourself. With a few basic tools like sand paper, regular water based paint and a paint brush you can refinish almost any old chair frame. Be creative, add some color, go to the fabric shop and see what they have in the remnant section. Pick somthing with a pattern or what ever catches your eye, bring it home and experiment. In one day with a little elbow grease you can have a great new chair.
